Visiting the Malahat Skywalk on Vancouver Island
We wanted to discover Vancouver island's most breathtaking attraction, the Malahat Skywalk. It would be a short drive from Victoria, an eco-friendly treetop experience that offers panoramic views, a spiral tower walk and a family-friendly slide that brings excitement to your visit.
Advertised as the ultimate island attraction, the Malahat Skywalk is really a cool place to visit and it is not just for kids. Look at the view from the top where the eagles soar.
After paying for Malahat Skywalk tickets, you start at the forest level and you have to walk into the forest. Enjoy the critters made of wood there.
The Malahat Skywalk is 10 stories high and 250m above sea level.
To reach the top, you have to walk its spiral design. From the ground level, it will take you roughly 20 minutes to complete the walk but you can't help yourself with the view so walk slowly or stop every so often to catch your breath.
It is a huge structure and completely open. Try to go on a nice clear day to take in the sights and you won't have to brave the elements because it is all outdoors.
In the center of the skywalk is a big slide. When you reach the top, you have a choice to either slide down or walk down. Most people, young and old prefer to ride down.
Here's Cindy sliding down.
We chose to ride down and it was a blast. The whole slide is enclosed and made of steel. It is 20m long and it takes just a few seconds to slide down.
On the top, you can stay as long as you want. There's a net set up where you can walk on. Kids love it but those scared of heights might want to stay clear of it. Down below are patio chairs for you to relax and enjoy the mountain air.
We enjoyed the walk through the forest leading to the SkyWalk. Take your time and enjoy the forest and the wildlife that it brings. If you have been to the Malahat Skywalk, please drop me a comment on what you think?
